SEVEN-YEAR-LONG LOVE STORY CONTINUES

Mysore, Feb.14- Love is an all-encompassing emotion. To a true lover, everything else in this world is just a blur except his sweetheart. His home where his lover resides is his temple and she, his goddess. Valentine's Day is the perfect day to remember such an extraordinary love story that happened two years ago. The love of two people bound by a strange fate has now attained fruition.

Theirs was a four-year-old love story, which started with a quarrel. A boy from Mysore sent an 'sms' on his cell phone to some friend to watch a programme on National Geographic channel. Instead of his friend's mobile, his message mistakenly reached the mobile phone of a girl in Kumta, Karwar. The girl, angered by the message, called him up and chided him.

The boy heard her voice, lost himself, and instead of apologising and forgetting the incident, started calling her up again and again. He met with the same rejection from her. After many attempts, the girl at last agreed to speak with him and eventually fell for his love.

Their relationship continued only on phone for four long years. She refused to marry him or even meet him and he refused to forget her and move on. He persuaded her to meet him at least once and then reject him if she wishes so. She challenged him that once he saw her, he would never again speak of marriage. After much coaxing, she finally relented. They met and he saw that she had lost the ability to walk in both her legs due to polio. But even after seeing her, the boy stood up to his wish of marrying her. He succeeded in realising his dreams through an inter-caste marriage with the girl. Now it is two years since their marriage.

The boy is Sridhar, a resident of Dharam Singh Colony in Mysore and a caddy at Mysore Golf Club. The girl he carried away on his arms from Kumta is Shailasri. They married in May, 2009 and Star of Mysore had published their love story and the report was awarded the Best Report of the Year. Now, after three years, the love saga of the couple continues...

The couple are blessed with a girl child named Saksha, who stands as a testimony to their love since two years. Even now, Sridhar carries his wife wherever they go in his arms, instead of carrying their daughter. Shailasri says, "I am lucky to have gotten Sridhar as my husband. He never lets me down onto the floor and carries me everywhere. He calls me his goddess of wealth, Lakshmi. We do not know anything other than love. Though our parents opposed our love initially, now they are very fond of him. We visited them and returned from Kumta just a week ago. Everybody has accepted us."

"I just tease him sometimes that I will leave him and Sridhar asks me how he can live without me. He takes care of me more than our child. At last our love has won," she adds with a smile.

"I loved her voice before marriage and after being with her, now I love her fully. I will never hurt her," says Sridhar.
